Steven Stamkos of the Tampa Bay Lightning was taken off the ice on a stretcher today in their game against the Boston Bruins. Stamkos was skating back on defense when his legs got tied up in the goalie crease, causing him to trip and slide right into the goal post. Stamkos' right leg took the brunt of the blow as it violently snapped backwards upon impact. While this is definitely bad news for Tampa Bay, Stamkos was expected to compete for Team Canada in the Winter Olympics in February. USA Today has the story and a video of the injury, which I would avoid if you have a weak stomach. http://usat.ly/1hAz4Ck
